Canonical developers decided , Mir and X.org display server compatibility layer XMir not ready, the upcoming release of Ubuntu 13.10 will not default to Mir . Developers said that, due to technical difficulties, Mir + XMir + Unity 7 as the default desktop goal difficult to achieve, they do not want to sacrifice the overall Ubuntu experience and strong push Mir display server, so Mir and XMir only as a selectable option available to users. Mir, Canonical develop their own display server, only one major release to use Ubuntu, other mainstream desktop distro prefer Wayland Display Server, GNOME desktop, has been achieved on Wayland’s initial support .
