Samsung has announced the Galaxy S4 Zoom, the most powerful smartphone-camera hybrid on the market today.
The latest device to join Samsung’s Galaxy S4 line, the zoom features a CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, and a Xenon flash. Included with the camera / phone is the company’s new Zoom Ring, which can be used to quickly send photos to whomever you’re talking to with the help of the In-Call Photo Share feature.
Check out its front side, and you’ll see a device very similar to a Galaxy S4 Mini. It has a 4.3-inch qHD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage memory (expandable via microSD cards) and a 1.9-megapixel camera.
As far as size is concerned, the zoom is 15.4-mm deep and weighs 208g, compared to the standard Galaxy S4’s 7.9-mm and 130g body.
Pricing and carrier support for Samsung’s Galaxy S4 zoom have yet to be announced. According to CNET, the device will be available in the UK this summer, with a release in the United States and the rest of Europe planned for the fourth quarter of this year.
Including the zoom, Samsung’s current line of smartphones include the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 mini, and the Galaxy S4 Active.
