And in some parts of New York right after the ‘visit’ the hurricane there was no electricity, the line was reduced more than one day, and all that time people had to look for a source of energy in other areas of the city, where the damage was not as strong. Now three companies, AT & T, Goal Zero (producer of “solar” equipment “), Pensa Design (design firm) is embedded in the life of the project of creation of autonomous network of charging stations that receive energy from the sun. Project is called Street Charge .
This is not just an abstracted project were yesterday installed the first such station in Fort Green park. A little later, similar stations will be installed in other public places, including parks, squares, etc. The most interesting thing is that the authors of the project, and provided that the necessary cables for charging gadgets. That is, there is no need for a home run wire, if you do not carry. Each station includes six USB ports with cables connected micro-USB (for Android / Windows Phone / BlackBerry devices) and the cables for the devices from Apple. There are also 3 additional USB ports to which you can connect, if you have your own cable. “Charging stations» Street Charge will be available to people 24 hours a day, so that they will be useful not only for situations with hurricanes / earthquakes and other cataclysms. Each of us probably been in a situation where you need to take / send the vital message or call, and the phone is running low.Now that New Yorkers have an alternative. Project proponents are hoping that people will not take place for a long time, “Under the Sun”, and stop for a quick 10 or 15 minute charge, which is enough for an emergency reserve battery, then you can re-charge your phone at home or in the office. Full recharging with Street Charge will be equal to or even lower than in the case of the regular charger and the conventional electric network. Needless to say, such stations are in need of supervision by the police as thieves / lovers of destruction is not asleep. But it is – is the task of the authorities, partners Street Charge is doing everything possible to provide a reliable source of energy for local people and their gadgets. Via theverge
